This is an eight hour course consisting of six hours of classroom
training involving safe gun handling, legal issues, and basic firearms
discussion. The classroom portion includes a written test. The range portion includes live fire of
pistols and revolvers, safe gun handling, and introductory target and defense training
When handling of firearms is required in any class, SAFETY is the priority. On this issue strict
observance of safety rules and practices will be enforced. Firearms safety and handling will be
discussed at length during the classroom portion of the instruction. When you get to the live fire
stage of the training, warnings will be given for safety violations. Because of the inherent danger
involved with a mixed group of students handling firearms, any student who repeatedly violates the
basic safety rules will result in that student’s failure of the course curriculum.
If you find the above information intimidating, don’t. You will be told about these and other safety
rules over and over before you ever get to the live fire portion of the program. We are here to
educate you on proper and safe fun handling. If you are new to shooting, or have limited experience
with gun handling, don’t worry. Together we can make your experience safe, fun, and informative.
